The Dallas Cowboys need a star receiver to pair alongside CeeDee Lamb. With a superstar suddenly available in free agency, the Cowboys could jump on the opportunity.
The Los Angeles Rams tried finding a trade partner for Cooper Kupp but eventually released him. Kupp, who could be an impact receiver for the Cowboys alongside Lamb, is available. TWSN’s Steve Bradshaw predicted the Cowboys would sign him now that he is available.
“The Dallas Cowboys need a star receiver to pair alongside CeeDee Lamb,” wrote Bradshaw. “With a superstar suddenly available in free agency, the Cowboys could jump on the opportunity. While Lamb played 50.3% of his snaps in the slot last year, he’s more than capable of playing outside. Moving Kupp into that primary slot role would maximize the juice he has left. Being able to sign Kupp is a real option as well. As of now, the Cowboys have roughly $51 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap. Adding Kupp on a short-term deal is more than possible with this sort of financial flexibility.”
Kupp was named Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl LVI. During his All-Pro campaign in 2021, he also won the Triple Crown. When healthy, he is one of the best players in the league. However, he has had trouble staying on the field. He has missed 18 games in the last three seasons but was on pace to break 1,000 yards in all three seasons. Signing Kupp does not come without the risk of injury, but if he can stay healthy he is a home run addition.
