Emma Watson has taken a 4-year break from acting to rest and regain her spirit before returning to work.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Emma Watson revealed the reason why she took a 4-year break from acting since the film project Little Women was released in 2019. Accordingly, the actress felt stuck and was no longer happy doing this job.
“I feel like I’m imprisoned,” Emma Watson shared, “The hardest thing (about being an actress) is that I have to go out and convince people about a product that I have no control over. It’s hard to be the face of something that I wasn’t even involved in the process of.”
The Harry Potter star was annoyed that all the criticism was directed at the actor when a movie was considered bad, even though an actor like Emma Watson was not responsible for this “badness”.
“I started to realize that I just wanted to be held accountable for the bad things that I actually did, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, that I actually screwed up and it was my decision, that I should have done better,” Emma continued.
After a long 4-year break, Emma Watson seems to have regained her spirit and is ready to return to new film projects. However, the actress confirmed that she will be more selective in her comeback and only choose projects where she can truly “be herself”.
