The New York Yankees avoided a series sweep in emphatic fashion on Wednesday night, riding a masterclass from left-hander Max Fried and a relentless offensive outburst to overpower the Cincinnati Reds 7–1 at Great American Ball Park.

After a tough extra-inning loss on Tuesday, the Yankees bounced back with poise, power, and precision.

Max Fried Dazzles: 7 Innings of Domination
New York’s ace Max Fried delivered a gem when the Yankees needed it most. He tossed seven dominant innings, allowing only one unearned run on four hits, while striking out seven and walking none. Fried improved to 10–2 on the season and lowered his ERA to a sparkling 2.38.

“Max set the tone,” manager Aaron Boone said postgame. “He was in full command tonight — tempo, location, everything.”

Fried’s outing also featured his MLB-leading seventh pickoff of the season, showcasing his elite awareness and control of the basepaths.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Answers Back with a Bomb
Just a day after being ejected for arguing balls and strikes, Jazz Chisholm Jr. responded in the loudest way possible — with a two-run, tape-measure home run in the third inning that sailed deep into the Cincinnati night.

“That one felt good,” Chisholm said. “Yesterday’s behind me — this team needed a win.”

The blast gave the Yankees an early cushion, and the offense never looked back.

Offensive Revival: Grisham, Domínguez Shine
New York’s bats, which had been quiet in the series opener, exploded for 13 hits, led by a pair of breakout performances:

Trent Grisham: 4-for-5, 1 RBI, 2 runs

Jasson Domínguez: 4-for-5, 2 doubles, 1 RBI — a career-high in hits

The Yankees were 5-for-10 with runners in scoring position, a sharp improvement after stranding 11 runners in Tuesday’s loss.

Reds Silenced After Late-Inning Heroics in Game 1
Tuesday night’s 5–4 Reds win in 11 innings saw the Yankees blow a late lead. But on Wednesday, Fried and the bullpen — including Clay Holmes and Luke Weaver — made sure the Reds had no chance to repeat that magic.

The only run the Reds scored was unearned, and they were held to just five hits on the night.

With the win, the Yankees move to 49–32 on the season and avoid a damaging sweep on the road. It also marks Max Fried’s 10th win, solidifying his status as one of the most reliable starters in the American League.

“This was a response game,” Boone said. “We had a tough loss yesterday, but the way we came out — it says a lot about our group.”

The Yankees return home for a weekend series at Yankee Stadium, with Carlos Rodón scheduled to take the mound Friday night. With momentum back on their side, the Bronx Bombers are looking to build consistency heading into the All-Star break.
